Brain Awareness week 10-16th March

Migraine and Headaches - Migraine NZ estimates that 753,000 New Zealanders live with migraine. Many New Zealanders also suffer from chronic tension type headaches.
Acupuncture has been recommended in the treatment of migraine and tension type headaches in several international clinical guidelines, including the German Migraine and Headache Society and the German Society of Neurology and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines in the United Kingdom.
‘The available evidence suggests that a course of acupuncture consisting of at least six treatment sessions can be a valuable option for people with frequent tension-type headache.’
A 2024 article in the Journal of the American Board of Family Medicine on Headache treatment options wrote that:
‘Acupuncture is a safe, helpful, and often readily available option for patients who have not responded to (or complied with) pharmacotherapy.’
