Substance use, intoxication and withdrawal management workshop

This is a FREE workshop to help increase knowledge, skills, and confidence in knowing how to recognise and respond to intoxication and withdrawal when working in a clinical or community setting.

The workshops support kaimahi to:

recognise and respond to someone who is intoxicated
engage with people who use substances
support and respond to someone contemplating or entering withdrawal
understand the function of substance use and the impact of stigma on help seeking

The workshops will also explore:

practical strategies to assess and manage behavioral disturbance due to intoxication and withdrawal
how to refer to specialist addiction services and other community supports
how to provide harm reduction advice for people who continue to use substances

Workshops attract CPD dapaanz points and are designed for people who have previous experience and training to work in addiction services.

For people without previous experience or training, it is recommended that Addiction 101 is completed before attending a workshop. Upcoming substance use, intoxication, and withdrawal management workshops include:
