On March 1, we are running a two-hour online workshop, Culture in the Clinic, starting at 10am. In this live, online workshop you will develop cultural safety and competence in practice. Join us in a supportive environment to discover what our own individual culture is, understand how it may affect others and develop a deeper appreciation of how we can keep people safe in our workspace or clinic.
Mana Fleming will lead this workshop. Her qualifications include:
- NLP trainer
- Bachelor Health Science Chinese Medicine
- Experienced and qualified adult educator
- Serves on multiple advisory boards
Extensively trained in NLP, Mana has a gift for creating safe spaces for self-discovery. After many years empowering individuals, the focus is now on delivering this Culture in the Clinic workshop. Mana has regularly presented workshops on Culture since 1994.
Mana’s aim is to support practitioners to create their own solid frame of reference to use when interacting with clients. Together with Mana’s extensive knowledge, light humour and astute observations, we will create a space to allow reflection that can be less than comfortable in the privacy and comfort of your home or clinic. The ideal outcome of this training is to support an accountable and confident practitioner who embraces diversity.
Workshop Objectives that meet the professional standards for acupuncture
- Reflect on our cultural identity and thereby recognise the impact of culture on professional practice.
- Understand that culture is dynamic and evolves over time, and that cultural beliefs, values and practices can influence perceptions of health, illness and disease.
- Recognise the inherent power imbalances in healthcare relationships.
- Have courageous discussions with colleagues to learn more about bias, diversity, stereotyping and our own cultures.
