On Wednesday May 2,Tim Haiselden became the first ever New Zealand acupuncturist to be presented with the medal signifying that he is now a Member of the Order of New Zealand. Tim was presented with his medal by Lt General the Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mataparae, Governor General of New Zealand, at a ceremony at Goverment House in Wellington.
A former President of NZRA, Tim has worked tirelessly over the last 30plus years for the profession to be recognised. Together with his wife Lesley, Tim has spent incredible energy raising the profile of acupuncture both in the eyes of the general public as well as in dealings with the Ministry of Health and other departments. Although no longer involved at a political level, Tim maintains a very close interest in the progress of the profession, particularly with regard to registration under the HPCA Act. Tim continues to run a very busy practice in Karori, Wellington.
At the ceremony Tim was accompanied by Lesley and their son Nathan as well as his sister Jill and her husband Peter. Also attending were former President of NZRA, James McNeill and current President, Paddy McBride.
