As a Chinese Medicine herbalist sharpen your diagnostic skills in - proper visual examination, identification of skin lesions, explore the significance of distribution, presentation and morphology of lesions.
Mazin will highlight the differentiation of various skin conditions that look the same from a Western Medicine perspective and a Chinese Medicine perspective
Mazin will present heaps of cases from his own clinical practice detailing the disease history, before and after photos, herbal formulae used through this process and topical treatments applied.
Chinese Medicine Patterns
Some of the Chinese Medicine patterns discussed are Blood Heat (also covered are the accompanying patterns of Wei, Qi & Ying level Heat; Wind; Toxic Heat; Dampness). The primary medicinal used for treatment and how to differentiate these levels of heat. Damp Heat (also covered are the accompanying patterns of Spleen Xu; Injury to Yin & fluids), Stasis of Blood (also covered are the accompanying patterns of Qi & Blood Disharmony; Dampness; Blood Xu; Qi Xu), Dryness of Blood & Yin (also covered are the accompanying patterns of Dry Wind; Blood Heat; Stasis; injury to Fluids & Qi).
Western Medicine Conditions
The following common dermatological conditions will be discussed Eczema (atopic, asteatotic, erythrodermic, nummular, pompholyx, seborrhoeic), Psoriasis (plaque, guttate, pustular, hyperkeratotic), Acne (vulgaris, nodular cystic, post adolescent female form), Lichen Simplex, Ichthyosis Vulgaris, Rosacea, Vitiligo and Alopecia.
