Join NZRA

With more than 440 members, NZRA is the largest of the professional bodies representing Acupuncturists and Chinese Herbalists in New Zealand. Our members cover every area of the country from the very far north to the very bottom of the south in all the main cities as well as the smaller rural areas.

NZRA represents members and the Chinese Medicine perspective in dealings with ACC, the Ministry of Health and the general public.

NZRA provides advocacy and professional support for members.

NZRA negotiates competitive insurance rates for members.

NZRA distributes a monthly newsletter to ensure members are kept informed about current issues.

NZRA produces cost effective flyers promoting the use of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine for display and distribution by members.

NZRA provides a two to three day annual conference in association with the AGM, bringing together local and international presenters to ensure members are fully informed about current issues.

NZRA runs courses, seminars and workshops to enable members to achieve their CPD requirements.

NZRA maintains and monitors the website enabling the public to obtain information, easily locate local practitioners and to ask questions about the profession.

Those practitioners who wish to become a member of NZRA must complete the Application Form which may be downloaded below and provide evidence of training, together with a passport sized photograph and two character references. Those who have graduated from a recognised New Zealand school do not have to undergo an assessment of competency. Those who trained overseas must complete a written assessment plus a workplace assessment of clinical competence, including point location. An application fee of $NZ125 must accompany the application form. This may be paid by cheque or by direct debit into the NZRA account.

Full-time students of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine are entitle to free membership of NZRA. Student members may attend regional meetings, are entitled to reduced fees for the NZRA annual conference,seminars and workshops and will receive the monthly e-newslette as well as the annula NZRA Journal which is published in the lead up to the Conference. The $125 application for membership fee will be waived for those who have been student members of NZRA. New graduates are entitled to a 50% reduction in their membership fees for the first 12 months of membership.
 
Members of NZRA have been recognised by the Accident Compensation Commission (ACC) as Treatment Providers since 1990. Once membership of NZRA has been approved, registration with ACC will entitle members to treat ACC patients and claim a treatment fee from ACC. ( See ACC page for further details).
